David Chen (Taiwan)
The Ukulele – A gift from God
After being an engineer for nearly 10 years, David had lost his passion in work. One day, he prayed to God to give him the job which can give him passion back. One month later, a doctor asked David whether he is interested in doing music therapy. With that job, David was really excited for working with those autisms. Meanwhile he had been looking for the instrument which is easy and can be played and sang. One day, he found ukulele. "After working with ukulele for a while, I firmly believe that ukulele has the power of healing because it gives kids happiness and confidence. After working as a part-time ukulele teacher and music therapist for one more years, I have decided to quit my engineer job and became as a full time ukulele teacher. After one year, I released my first ukulele tutor book which became the first ukulele book in Taiwan and China. Since then, I was invited to China to promote ukulele. In order to learn more about ukulele, I have decided to go to Hawaii every year, I attended most of the ukulele activities and also tried to find good ukulele teachers. In March of 2012, I met Kimo Hussey in Hawaii Ukulele Picnic, I was really fascinated by his unique two-finger style." |

Just'In Girls & Boys
Ukulelebändi Just'In Girls & Boys sai alkunsa kevättalvella 2017 tyttöjen illanvieton seurauksena. Myöhemmin tulivat mukaan myös pojat.
Bändin jäsenet ovat pitkän linjan musiikin harrastajia, monella on taustaa kuorolaulajina tai kokemusta bändisoitosta. Mahtuupa mukaan yksi ammattimuusikkokin. Ukulelejen, ukebasson ja rytmisoittimien lisäksi bändin jäsenet soittavat mm. kazoota, pyykkilautaa ja melodicaa. Just'In Girls & Boysien ohjelmisto koostuu pääosin rockklassikoista, välillä käväistään popin ja soulin, bluesin ja discohittienkin puolella. Musiikkia tehdään määrätietoisesti, mutta aina pilke silmäkulmassa, eli "vakavaa hauskanpitoa ukulelet rokaten". www.facebook.com/JustIn-Girls-Boys |
